If you’re not sure, we can recommend the cleanest option based on your vehicle, supply, parking position, and whether solar matters to you.
Yes. Evnex chargers are designed for proper outdoor installation when they’re mounted in a suitable position and protected from avoidable impact or water pooling.
We’ll help choose a location that works for your parking layout, cable reach, and long-term durability.
Yes. Solar-smart charging is a major reason homeowners choose the Evnex range. The E2 Core, E2 Plus, and X22 are aimed at homes that want to charge more intelligently around solar production and energy usage.
If you already have rooftop solar, we can advise whether the extra smart features are worth it for how you actually use the car.
Yes, that’s one of the main reasons the E2 Flex exists. It gives you a cleaner entry point if you want a quality charger today but aren’t ready to commit to the full solar-smart setup straight away.
We can talk through whether that staged approach makes sense or whether you’re better off going straight to the Core or Plus.
Yes, but it depends on the model. The E2 range suits typical single-phase home charging, while the X22 is the model aimed at compatible three-phase sites.
If you’re unsure what supply you have, we can confirm it before quoting.
For most homes, the E2 range charges at up to 7.4kW, adding roughly 40–50km of range per hour.
On a compatible three-phase site, the Evnex X22 can charge at up to 22kW, adding up to around 120km of range per hour.
Your actual charging speed still depends on your EV’s onboard charger, battery size, and the electrical supply available at the property.
They’re designed to work with the vast majority of EVs and plug-in hybrids commonly driven in Australia. If your car uses the standard local AC charging connection, an Evnex charger is generally a straightforward match.
If you have an import or an unusual charging setup, we can confirm compatibility before installation.
Home overload protection helps stop the charger from pushing your household demand past what the site can safely handle. That matters when you’ve got air con, ovens, hot water, or other high loads running at the same time.
It’s one of the practical smart features that can reduce unnecessary upgrade work and help the charger behave better in homes with limited supply.
Yes. App control and scheduled charging are core Evnex selling points. That makes it easier to charge overnight on better tariffs, line charging up with solar production, and keep an eye on how the charger is behaving.
Exact connectivity varies by model, which is another reason to choose the charger around how you’ll use it.
For the best remote control experience, yes. Wi-Fi or other model-specific connectivity is what enables app access, monitoring, updates, and remote changes.
If the charger location has weak signal, we can talk through that during quoting so it doesn’t become a surprise later.
The E2 Flex and E2 Core come with a 5m tethered cable, while the E2 Plus comes with a longer 8m tethered cable.
The X22 is available as either an untethered model or with a 5m tethered cable, depending on the setup you prefer.
We can recommend the better cable option for your parking position so daily charging is easy instead of annoying.
Evnex chargers are backed by a 4-year residential warranty, a 3-year commercial warranty, local support, and remote diagnostics.
We also back our installation work with our 5-year workmanship warranty, so you’re covered on both the charger side and the install side.
We can do either. If you want us to supply the charger, we can include the best-fit Evnex model in the quote. If you already own a new Evnex unit, we can quote install-only.
The main thing is confirming the model is suitable for your site before installation day.
The main variables are switchboard condition, distance to the charger location, whether you need single-phase or three-phase work, and whether any additional protection or solar-smart setup is required.
A quick assessment lets us give you a more accurate quote based on your actual switchboard, cable route, charger location, and setup requirements.
Yes. You do not need solar to install or use an Evnex charger. It will still work as a smart home EV charger using grid power and timed charging.
The question is simply whether the solar-aware features are useful to you now, later, or not at all.
While they share the same core charging power, they differ in their smart features, connectivity, and cable lengths:
- E2 Flex — The budget-friendly entry point. It focuses on standard grid charging with Wi-Fi connectivity and offers a $349 upgrade path for solar down the track.
- E2 Core — The solar-smart sweet spot. It includes built-in solar diversion, Amber Electric compatibility, overload protection, and a 5-metre cable.
- E2 Plus — The premium, fully-connected option. It adds a 4G SIM fallback, a longer 8-metre cable, unit-to-unit load balancing for multi-EV homes, Tesla app integration, and four colour choices.
If you're not sure which one fits, send us a quick message and we'll recommend the best option for your home.
The E2 Core and E2 Plus both have solar-smart charging built in — they can prioritise your rooftop generation to charge the car instead of exporting it to the grid. The Core is the more economical choice if your Wi-Fi is reliable and you only have one EV.
The E2 Flex can also be made solar-aware with an optional $349 software upgrade, but it's not built in from the start. If solar is already on your roof, the Core or Plus is usually the cleaner option.
Evnex chargers are designed and manufactured in New Zealand — not a white-label import from overseas. The hardware and firmware are engineered specifically for Australian and New Zealand electrical standards, climate conditions, and grid requirements.
All models are certified to AS/NZS 3820:2009 and backed by a 4-year residential warranty from Evnex, on top of our own 5-year workmanship warranty on the installation.
